Lelo Ina Wave Vibrator Review

Lelo contacted me to ask if I would like to review a new sex toy from the Lelo range; the Ina Wave Vibrator. In case you are wondering, the Ina Wave is an upgraded version of Lelo’s popular Ina Vibrator; a sleek and sexy dual stimulator. At the time of writing this, the Ina and the Ina Wave are both available to purchase from lelo.com

I’ve read a lot of positive reviews for the original Ina, but I still struggled to get excited about the Ina Wave. I haven’t had the best of luck with rabbit vibrators and I felt jaded. Sure, the Ina Waves design and features were calling out to me, but I knew that until I actually tried it, I would have no idea how I truly felt about this particular vibrator. Would the Ina turn out to be “The One”, or would it be just another rabbit vibrator that failed to get me off? As soon as the Ina arrived, I set about finding out.

Product Information:

Unlike the traditional (old-skool) rabbit vibrators, the Ina Wave lacks the garish animal features, the wiggling jelly ears and those noisy, rotating beads. In typical Lelo fashion, the Ina’s design is much more sleek and sophisticated. You know when you hold it, that you are in possession of a quality sex toy.

It isn’t just the aesthetics that have been well thought out. The internal mechanisms are clearly high quality and the additional features have been well thought out. The Ina is designed to provide as much pleasure as possible, while remaining easy to use and care for. The Ina Wave features:

  • Two vibrating motors, each sending powerful vibrations to its designated shaft.
  • A motorised, moving shaft, which waves back and forth in a come-hither motion.
  • 10 pattern settings. Some settings include the vibrations plus the wave function, while others contain vibration (one or both motors) or movement only.
  • Approximately 12 different speed settings (Applies to vibrations only), from an incredibly gentle murmur, to a powerful and deep rumble.
  • Two different wave speeds: This applies to the shaft movement only. You cannot control this speed manually. Instead, the two different speeds are pre-set within the 10 modes.
  • 100% pure, silky smooth, body safe silicone. The Ina Wave’s handle is also coated in silicone, which is a new feature.
  • Mains rechargeable.
  • 100% waterproof.
  • Gorgeous, luxury packaging and long term storage options (pouch and box).

According to my Measurements, the Ina wave’s main shaft has an insertable length of 4.25 inches and a circumference of 4.5 inches at its widest point. The clitoral arm measures 2-25 inches in length and the size of the gap between the clit arm and the main shaft is 0.75 inches. The total length of the Ina Wave is 8 inches.

My Experiences Using the Lelo Ina Wave:

The most common issue I have with rabbit vibrators, is that the clitoral arm often overshoots my clitoris, coming to rest at the top of my clitoral shaft. Perhaps I have a short vulva, because I have this issue with most dual stimulators, including couples toys like the We-Vibe 4 plus.

Every woman is different, but the distance between my vaginal opening and the part of my clitoris that needs stimulation the most, is really very small. I therefore have better luck with rabbit vibrators that have short clitoral arms. It also helps if the two shafts are close together. A great example of a rabbit vibrator that fits me almost perfectly is the Whooper by Swan Vibes. The Ina Wave’s shape resembles the Whooper, so my hopes were raised. Still, there is much more to finding an orgasmic sex toy that just its shape. Materials, flexibility and vibrations are also important. With this in mind, I began experimenting with the Ina.

Thanks to the Ina’s tapered tip and silky smooth silicone, insertion was comfortable and enjoyable. Another bonus; the curved shaft ensured that the tip hit my g-spot. Before I could fully indulge in that pleasurable sensation, I noticed another; the tip of the clitoral shaft was poking at my clitoris. My clitoris; the part of me that most rabbit vibrators overshoot.

Despite my pleasant surprise, this wasn’t quite the sensation I was looking for. As I thrust slowly in and out with the main shaft, the clitoral arm would poke me, stopping me from thrusting any deeper. Thankfully, the Ina’s clitoral arm is flexible, so I lifted it up, thrust the main shaft deeper and allowed the clitoral arm to rest snugly across my clitoris. I could feel a small amount of pressure as the clitoral arm tried to return to its usual position, but it was not painful. It actually felt really good.

I switched the Ina on, noting that it started on a wave pattern. The Ina does have a memory function and will begin on the setting you last had it on. I personally preferred to start with vibrations alone, as the moving shaft could cause mild discomfort if my internal muscles/g-spot wasn’t warmed up.

Speaking of vibrations, the Ina really impressed me. Not only did the clitoral arm come to rest in the right position, it also applied a little pressure and produced powerful vibrations. These vibrations are not as deep and rumbly as the We-Vibe Tango, but they certainly hold their own. I would compare them to the Minna Limon, or the We-Vibe Touch. These powerful, rumbly vibrations travel to both shafts, thanks to the Ina’s dual motors. Lelo have done a great job at improving their vibrations from the days when I reviewed the original Gigi. I have noticed that many of Lelo’s newer sex toys are powerful enough to make me climax and the Ina Wave is definitely one of them.

Next, I experimented with the wave function. Lelo definitely got a few things right. For example, the motor controlling the movement is strong. No matter how hard I squeezed, the shaft continued to move as it was designed to do, not slowing down or grinding to a halt. Unfortunately though, there was one issue; it was quite hard to get the Ina’s main shaft to move inside of me. Instead, the resistance of my vaginal muscles caused the movement to transfer outside of my body. I looked down between my legs to see the Ina’s handle moving up and down, while I felt very little internally. On the plus side, the clitoral arm was sliding back and forth up the length of my clitoris and that felt strangely great.

With a tight grip and a steady hand, I could force the movement back inside my body and when there, it feels pretty good. Was it orgasmic? Nope, not by itself anyway. Lelo claim to have reproduced the same back and forth movement that many women seek for g-spot stimulation. The Ina definitely moves in a similar way, producing a sensation that felt similar to two fingers lightly (and slowly) pressing into my g-spot. Unfortunately though, it was just far too slow and far too gentle to push me close to g-spot orgasm.

With that said, it isn’t all bad news. When I combine the shaft movement with the vibrations from both motors, it all comes together to provide some intensely enjoyable stimulation. Lelo state that the Ina will “create a blended orgasm that will crash over you” and I have to say that, for me at least, they were absolutely correct. The orgasms can build fast and almost against my will. When they hit, they feel fantastic.

So, would I choose to purchase the original (non-wave) version of the Ina, knowing the movements are not orgasmic by themselves? I don’t think I would. Although the wave function can’t make me orgasm alone, it definitely adds another level of stimulation to the already enjoyable sensations provided by the vibrations. Personally, I would take the Ina Wave, knowing I could turn the movement on, or leave it off, depending on my mood.

Downsides:

Apart from the movement issue (something you can rectify with a good grip), the Ina Wave did have one notable downside. The Ina Wave appears to be suffering from a similar fault as the Jimmyjane Form 2. With the Ina’s main shaft inserted and both motors switched to constant vibration mode, any movement you make seems to interfere with the main shaft motor, causing it to pulse fast instead of vibrate constantly.

For me, the Ina’s fault was not as disastrous as that found on the Jimmyjane Form 2, because the Ina’s fault only seems to affect the vibrations in the main shaft. I wasn’t happy about the issue, but because the clitoral arm continues to vibrate normally, I can still reach orgasm without too much distraction. This fault only happens when both motors were switched to constant vibration and it only affects the main shaft. This means that unless you need constant internal and external stimulation at the same time, it probably won’t bother you too much either.

Summary:

I went back and forth while deciding whether or not to rate the Lelo Ina Wave as my new favourite rabbit vibrator. This title belonged to the Swan Whooper, but the Ina Wave pleased me even more. The Ina’s clitoral arm is even more pin-point than the Whoopers, plus the fit is generally better. The Ina’s movement also added a layer of stimulation missing from the Whooper. Overall, the orgasms came quicker and faster with the Ina Wave.

What holds me back from completely raving about the Ina Wave, is that annoying fault I discovered during use. In my experience, it only seems to happen when both motors are set to constant vibration. All other modes seem fine. This fault did not affect my experience much, but I do worry that it might be different for others. Personally, I can see myself reaching for this vibrator often, especially when I crave an intense, blended climax. I would definitely recommend the Lelo Ina Wave, but with a little heads-up about that flaw.
